New installation system for ESSER fire control panels technology in complex industrial environments

Neuss, September 14, 2012. The concept of installing ESSER fire alarm control panels (FACPs) in an upright cabinet not only ensures compliance with current standards but is also unparalleled on the market and sets a new benchmark for installation in complex industrial facilities. The FACP components and necessary peripheral equipment are accommodated in space-saving sliding racks that also facilitate accessing the system for maintenance work. Tried-and-true industrial installation practice is to position connection terminals low down. The configuration and arrangement of connections can then be varied depending on the facilities’ requirements.

Assigning the key technology as well as the conventional and emergency power supply to individual racks has the advantage not only of organizing the system’s parts in a clear, structured way but also of ensuring that the connection terminals are within easy reach near the floor. These terminals are mounted directly on rails attached to the left, right, front or back of the cabinet, as desired. Ready-for-use, plug-in cables run between the terminals and the circuit boards. Installation requires an upright cabinet with a minimum depth of 800 millimeters and a 19-inch fixing for the front and back. When maintenance work is required, the operating unit, which is integrated into the chassis, folds down and locks in place, allowing easy access to all the pluggable modules during servicing. The requisite batteries and power supply units are fitted into heavy-duty racks that slide out so that replacements and measurements pose no problem.
